This year, MESA CSULB hosted 2 virtual prelims and 2 in-person prelims, one of each for middle school and high school.
For the virtual competitions on February 24 (MS) and March 9 (HS), students logged on to Zoom from their home or school to compete in the virtual prelim competitions (Coding Solutions, Think Tank, and Math Escape).
For the in-person competitions on March 2 (MS) and March 16 (HS), students arrived on campus in the morning and received a t-shirt before making their way to the competition rooms to check in their projects.

The middle school students attended a COE Outreach Presentation in the Horn Center before heading to their competitions for judging.

During the SR Prelims, the MESA Passport rooms were opened before the judging period, and students had the chance to attend a BESST/Beach XP Info Session, a COE Ambassadors presentation, the NEDC Poster Symposium, and do a MESA Student Survey to receive stamps for their passport.

Students then headed to their respective competition locations for the judging period, where some teams tested their projects and others presented in front of judges.

After the testing and judging period, students had a lunch break, while the competition leads worked on compiling the list of winners for each competition. Winners (see full list of winners above) were announced during the awards ceremony at the end of each day.
