MATH | ENGINEERING | SCIENCE | ACHIEVEMENT
The Mathematics, Engineering, and Science Achievement (MESA) program serves low-income and educationally disadvantaged students at the pre-college and college levels. CSULB's College of Engineering offers programs for both the pre-college level (MCP) and college level (MUP). The MESA College Prep (MCP) program at CSULB partners with middle schools and high schools from the Long Beach and Los Angeles area to prepare students to attend college.
The MESA College Prep Program is an amazing opportunity for middle school students, grades 6-8, and high school students, grades 9-12, to develop academically. Our program focuses on ensuring that students are taking the right steps to reach their goals for their post-secondary education by providing:
-
tutoring from CSULB undergraduate engineering students
-
individual academic planning
-
exposure to technical careers and role models
-
hands-on STEM activities (MESA Days)
-
and more!
The CSULB MESA center is dedicated to providing the best college preparation experience possible to our students.
MESA Days are festivals of learning with competitions & fun activities for students that spark interest in careers related to the fields of Math, Science, and Engineering. These events give students the opportunity to compete for awards at local and regional levels. Competition rules are grade-specific and reinforce the California State Board of Education Math and Science standards.
